Exchange: Mexican artists and the US

October 2, 2010 § Leave a comment

Being a Mexican in the US I can’t help but be excited to see that more exchanges between artists and cultures are being possible. The National Fund for the Arts and Culture in Mexico (FONCA) has just announced, October 1st, that a new program is being launch to promote the intercultural exchange between US and Mexico

The goal of this new program called “Catedra Cultura de Mexico” (Lecture: Mexican Culture) is to provide Mexican artistic creators (composers, choreographers, writers, indigenous language writers, visual arts, architecture, thinkers, etc.) with the opportunity to present their work at American Universities. Their participation so far has been described as a conference, the presentation of their work and interviews with faculty and students of the involved universities.

I believe this exchange will improve not only the experience of these artists and their careers but also the knowledge and comprehension of both cultures. I leave you with a short video showing what some dance companies are doing in Mexico.
